Being outdoors is central to our existence. It is non-negotiable. Navigating ethics of action amidst the current state of affairs proves challenging at every turn. Stay healthy means stay active, outside. Luckily, we live in a county that has a lot of open space to move around, despite the masses' limited perspective and obsessive habituation otherwise. We can go outside and not face exposure covid-19 safely and without impact the health care system. Nancy and I can access places within a short drive from home that guarantee isolation from other people while retaining a sense of adventure, exploration and engagement. But many cannot. There are countless people writhing to get out of the box in their neighborhood in the city in that big state that they I live in. There are bozos hucking meat and getting short-hauled out of the backcountry, there are hordes crowding beaches and licking toilet bowls...There are people that believe it is a hoax. Not everyone's life is going to go back to normal anytime soon. Most of us will never experience life the same again. To move forward any other way would be, at minimum, naive.

Pine Creek is a quiet sanctuary amidst the busier and busier crags . Nancy and I climbed there a lot. On this day, we were joined by Bob Harrington and Gray Thompson.
